My ex boyfriend gave me Chlamydia. I was SO ashamed, I hid it from everyone. I went to the clinic to get tested for the first time ever, I was so nervous to get tested and then after that awful result i was terrified. I’ve never felt so ashamed of myself, so angry at my partner and the world. i felt dirty, even though it wasn’t transmittable because i wasn’t having sex.
What I want anyone else to know is that there’s absolutely no shame in it. Even if there’s symptoms or anything like that, it’s no more shameful than having a common cold. Even though I was horrified at the time, I can laugh about it now, nearly two years later.
