About Shae

My priority is helping people queer their understanding of themselves and their pleasure.

I am a trans & non-binary sex and relationship therapist with a background of community organising and running play parties. I am AUDHD, disabled (deaf and EDS), practice non-monogamy and have been part of various kink communities for over 10 years.

I work in a way that looks at the whole picture, reducing shame and increasing connection with yourself and others. I do my best to meet you where you are at – not assuming where you should be. I take an anti-oppressive and trauma informed approach, but at the same time acknowledge that I am human and won’t always get things right. I appreciate feedback where necessary and if something is not working for you, we re-evaluate and change gears.

I work with many different niche sexual and relationship interests and issues, so if you are interested in working together, please get in touch. There’s more info on my site.

Qualifications

I am a Qualified Sex and Relationship Therapist registered as a member of COSRT, a professional body regulating therapists in this field. I qualifed with a Level 7 Diploma in Clinical Sexology and Relationship Therapy from the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology. I do more continued professional development than is required by my membership body. Recently completing the Gendered Intelligence intensive for therapists. In the recent past, i practiced as a psychosexual therapist at 56 Dean Street & TransPlus, and for Sex Therapy Herts.

Therapy approaches

I approach my clients “pluralistically”, which means that I work collaboratively with you on the methods and interventions that might suit your specific experience and issues. I am humanistic and relational, and draw from various models and tools to see what might fit. I don’t judge and I will always be curious. I also believe it is essential to work with an intersectional and anti-oppressive lens and will always be open to differences in lived experience. I won't expect you to educate me and I will not pathologise, judge you or make assumptions about your experiences. From my perspective, this is one of many forms of activism within the therapy world we need. Talking about gender, sex, relationships and more can be difficult -a lot can come up - and I aim to make you as comfortable as possible, while also gently challenging some of the patterns you may be stuck in. I am happy to use whatever terminology you prefer for you in our sessions - the beauty is that we can all self-identify with whatever terms resonate with us. I do NOT practice or support conversion therapy. I do not use any form of touch.

Client focus

I work with queer clients and their partners, particularly trans, non-binary and gender queer/questioning people. I often work with people who are neurodivergent, are sex workers, interested in kink, practicing kink and bdsm, those in open relationships or starting out in non-monogamy.
